The oldest hotel on the Iberian Peninsula

In order to preserve the intimate atmosphere that so well characterizes Lawrence's Hotel, the hotel rooms do not have numbers but names, making them unique and completely personalized, as well as keys instead of plastic cards for the guest to access the room.

History
Open since 1764, the Lawrence's Hotel is the oldest hotel on the Iberian Peninsula. It is mentioned in the novel Os Maias de Eça de Queirós, one of the most prestigious portuguese writers, and it was where Lord Byron, in 1809, began his famous work The Pilgrimage of Childe Harold when he stayed at the hotel.
